GLENDALE/PHOENIX, AZ - Senior Softball World Championship (SSWC) and Arizona Tournament Sports hosted forty-nine teams competing at four different sports complexes over the weekends of February 18th-19th and 25th-26th in the Senior Softball World Championships Gold Glove Qualifier. With no rain in sight, the mild and sunny weather was great for softball.
The first weekend of competition took place at the Papago Sports Complex and Mountain Vista Park, both in Phoenix.
In the Men’s 70 Division, the Cameco/Wranglers earned first place with a record of 5-1. Second place went to Mesa Cardinals 70; Sidewinder 70’s took third and Tucson 70’s came in fourth.
Rusty’s took first place in the Men’s 60 AA
A Division while Smith Electric finished in second. Yavapai Casino placed third and Robson Ranch was fourth.
The Men’s 60 AA Division champions were El Paso Legends (El Chuco), followed by Sun Cities Sidewinders 60’s in second, High Desert Dental 60’s in third and Nine-Elevens rounding out the top four.
A record of 5-1 earned Las Vegas Elks first place in the Men’s 65 AAA Division, with Mesa Cardinals 65
’s taking second place. Third place went to Top Gun 65’s, with Robson’s 65’s in fourth and Arizona Desert Devils in fifth.
Duke City Roadrunners took the top spot in the Men’s 65 AA Division. Kokopelli Eye Care placed second, Pinnacle Nissan Sidewinders 65’s were third and Havasu Heat 65’s placed fourth.
The Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix and Victory Lane Sports Complex in Glendale were the sites for the second weekend of play.
The undefeated 6-0 Yamaha Desert Golf Cars were champions of the Men’s 55+ Division. New Mexico Dukes came in second and Scrap Iron Worth 55’s placed third in the ten-team field.
In the Men’s 50 & 55 Majors, Arizona MOB 50’s took first with a record of 7-0. Arizona MOB 55’s were second, Grimes Trucking 55’s placed third and Stone Age 50’s were fourth.
Arizona Loan Sharks earned top honors in Men’s 50 AAA, followed by El Paso Drillers 50’s in second, and C J & S Express finishing third. Utah Vets placed fourth and El Paso Crossroads took fifth.
In the nine-team Men’s 50AA division, the Los Vatos Viejos took first place. Agave Homes placed second with Just For Fun coming in third.
