VAN NUYS, CA - Softball 360°, the recently launched national television series highlighting weekly softball action, has announced that the show will feature a fan-friendly home run contest called the Easton Bomb Squad Home Run Challenge. The weekly segment will showcase a home run derby competition featuring the biggest hitters from the softball world performing at major league ballparks with points tallied each week to determine a final winner.
"The softball community is well aware of the incredible power contained by the elite softball hitters, and we’re thrilled to show the entire world the action and long-ball excitement of softball," said Mike Zlaket, vice president of Easton’s baseball/softball division. "Just as the major league home run derby has become the highlight of its annual mid-summer classic, we know viewers around the country will be amazed at the long-ball ability of these remarkable athletes showcasing their pop in major league parks. This adds a truly fun element to the Softball 360° show."
The big hitters of the softball world have already joined the competition, including perennial standouts Brett Helmer, Hank Garris, Scott Brown, Johnny McCraw, Howie Krause, Jeff Wallace, Scott Striebel and Rusty Baumgartner.
The competition will move locations every week to various major league ballparks around the country such as Miller Park in Milwaukee, Safeco Field in Seattle, Turner Field in Atlanta, and the Metrodome in Minneapolis, among others.
As a part of the competition, each contestant will receive a limited number of pitches to hit as many homeruns as possible. Contestants will receive a point for each home run with point totals carrying over each week to determine a season-ending point leader.
