Game Time wins the NSA Men’s ‘D’ Western Worlds

KENT, WA - Game Time made it look easy by going undefeated to win the NSA Men’s ’D’ Western Worlds championship with a perfect 5-0 record. The tournament was held Aug 26-27 in Kent, Washington at Russell Road Park. There were twenty-five teams entered in the tournament with teams from Washington, Oregon, California and Utah.

In their first game Game Time went up against one of the top ‘D’ teams in Washington, Mt Hood Merchants. Game Time rolled to an 18-8 victory. Next up for Game Time was Code Red and the results were the same with Game Time winning 17-7. With two games under their belts it looked like they were on a roll. The team was playing some solid defense and killing the ball with their bats. In their first game on Sunday they went up against Head Case and with the team running on all cylinders they won again 11-6.

They were one win away from playing for the championship. The next team they would face also was undefeated and also put up a lot of runs in their games. Ice-O-Matic was not undefeated by chance. They faced some tough teams to get to where they were beating Nu Ray Metal 10-9, US Landscape 21-20, KMO 23-9 and Muzzha Fazzha 20-16.

They had scored a lot of runs in each of their games and it looked like the match up between Game Time and Ice-O-Matic would also be a high scoring game.

Once the game began there was only one team who had the hot bats and Game Time was that team. They pounded the ball and kept the Ice-O-Matic bats in check. In doing that Game Time won 17-5 and advanced to the championship game. With one win away from their goal the players just had to wait around to see who they would play.

With the loss Ice-O-Matic was sent packing to the loser’s bracket and had to win one game to get to the title game to face Game Time one more time. They had to beat Head Case.

The Ice-O-Matic players did not let the loss get them down and showed that in their game against Head Case. Their bats got hot again and with a 17-13 victory advanced to the championship game and a rematch with Game Time.

With the two best teams in the tournament playing for the championship everyone could not wait for the game to begin.

With a loss to Game Time earlier in the day Ice-O-Matic had to beat them twice to take the championship, a big task but they were willing to take on the challenge.

Once the game began it was clear that the players on both teams were a little nervous, but after a few innings the game began to heat up with good defense on both sides. It looked like Game Time was getting the hits when they needed them and it showed at the end of the game, hanging on to a 9-5 win and earning the Western Worlds NSA "D" Championship.

Ice-O-Matic came in second with a 5-2 record and Head Case and KMO tied for third place with a 3-2 record.
