Coed teams dominate at Ice Breaker

PASO ROBLES, CA – On a beautiful winter weekend 34 anxious teams arrived at Barney Schwartz Park for the annual Ice Breaker tournament held in Paso Robles, CA on Feb. 17 and 18. Chix & Prix from Bakersfield, CA dominated the field as they rolled through the co-ed “E” division. They finished the day with a 14-2 victory over Applebee’s Hardcore from Paso Robles.

Applebee’s Hardcore defeated Hot Dogs & Buns from Santa Maria, CA 15-1 while Chix & Prix defeated Khaos from Santa Maria 14-1, as both teams reached the championship game.

After beginning the day 0-2, Intense Boyz from Oxnard, CA managed to take the men’s “E” division title by beating three Santa Maria teams, Mama Sayz 16-14, the Hitting Crew 19-9, and finally, Compas by a margin of 19-5. Compas had defeated Some Old Guys from Lompoc, CA to reach the finals.

The co-ed “REC” division was filled with some fantastic teams as well. Fourth Dimension from Santa Barbara, CA went undefeated by taking the title game 10-6 from Coming From Behind residing in Santa Maria. Fourth Dimension reached the finals with a 9-6 victory over Getting Dirty from Atascadero, CA and a 6-4 defeat over Coming From Behind.
Coming From Behind returned through the loser’s bracket with a victory over Out Of Focus from Atascadero, CA.

The men’s “REC” division had On-U from Salinas, CA soundly defeating Goodfellas from Santa Maria by a margin of 19-7. On-U reached the finals with wins over Paso Robles teams Beans & Crackers 9-8 and Rendon’s 7-4.

Goodfellas took the long route with a loss in their first game of the day and they had to defeat six teams to get to the finals.
