RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – A&V Softball Tournaments held Qualifying Tournaments on July 14, 2007 at Quakes Stadium in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Twenty-four teams in three men’s divisions played through the heat of the day and throughout the cool night to earn a spot in A&V State, A&V World and A&V Bash 4 Cash Tournaments.

A&V ran a Novice Division along with Division 5 and a combined Division 3&4.
First place in the Novice division went to KPS Power from Rancho Cucamonga, CA with a 5-1 record. Simple Game from Santa Barbara and Holligans from Bloomington, CA finished in second and third place both with 3-2 records. The Hitmen also from Rancho Cucamonga were 2-2 and finished fourth. Larry Pierce from KPS Power was the tourney MVP.

The top team in Division 3/4 was GnB from Mira Loma, CA with a record of 5-1. Raw Balls 2 from Torrance finished in second place at 3-2. With 2-2 records, Likwid (Cathedral City, CA) and Longshots (Norco, CA) rounded out the top four spots. GnB’s Chris Murillo was MVP for the division.

The number one spot in Division 5 went to Riverside, CA’s X Rated who was a perfect 4-0. Steve Lopez was chosen as the tourney MVP. Young Guns from Baldwin captured the second place spot with a 3-2 record and the Hustlers from San Bernardino, also with a 3-2 record, finished in third. In the fourth place was the Showtime squad from Los Angeles, CA with a 2-2 record.

“Under the A&V tourney format we not only let teams re-qualify for these tournaments, but we also understand that teams break up and players leave teams for other teams. Teams can re-qualify to play in the same division with new players or get moved up to another division based on the player,” said A&V owner Al Acosta. “Once a team has earned a berth, that team will always have that berth, so if that team wants to change a few players, that’s ok as long as they play prior to a big tournament.”
