Senior Softball USA holds Western Nationals in Reno
RENO, NV – Hundreds of seniors, 40-years-old and up traveled to the ball fields in Reno, NV on July 17-22 to compete in the Senior Softball USA Western National Championships.

There was a great turn-out for the women’s divisions, when Primetime won the tournament in an “if” game, 20-12. T.N.T. came back through the loser’s bracket to beat Primetime in the championship game 17-5, but just couldn’t hold on any longer in the “if” and final game.

California Spirit won 23-5 against LJ Slammers to take the title for the women’s 50 division, and they won a close “if” game 26-22 against the Silver Saints in the 55 division.

The men’s 75-and-up Major division saw Texas Classics as the champions against So Cal Jets, 20-8, and the 70/75 Platinum division saw Joeseppi’s take the championship title 23-7 against State Roofing.

The 70/75 Silver division saw Seattle 70’s battle against California Gold Rush until they finally grabbed the title 18-17 in an exciting game. Gold Rush had a three run lead in the top of the seventh, the open inning, but did not score. The Seattle squad came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning to capture the game and the title.

W.E. Ruth Realty won the championship in the 65 Major Plus division, 16-15 against CA Angels, and High Desert Road Runners did the same in the 65 AAA division, 23-18 against L.V. Elks. Bickerton Iron Works won it by an “if” game 24-13 against CA Starzz, and Paradise Chevrolet won 17-10 against the C.V. Seniors. In the 60 AA division, Last Call was the winner versus Austin A’s, 7-0.

The 50/55 major division saw Goodman Racing come back through the loser’s bracket to win the “if” game against Evolution in a close 27-26 game. W.E. Ruth were the winners in the 55 Major Plus division after beating the Animals twice, and MAC II took home the title after beating Seacrest twice as well. The 50 AAA division was a long one, but in the end, the Vancouver Merchants became the champions over the Marauders, 33-23. Second Wind came out on top over S. Montee, 17-16 in the 50 AA division and No Dice was the winner of the “if” game vs. J. Chubb, 20-6.

Finally, in the final game of the 40 Master’s division, All Star Ford Masters grabbed the championship title 26-24 over West Coast 40’s.
